KYLE DILLINGHAM & HORSESHOE ROAD (OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA) blends an eclectic musical style ranging from Blues to Bluegrass, Gypsy Jazz to Western Swing, Country, Rock and Gospel into an earthy genre of music they call, Heartland Acoustic. Horseshoe Road celebrated Oklahoma’s centennial internationally through their performances with a tour of Japan and Thailand, and their tour was filmed as part of an official Oklahoma Centennial Project. They also performed numerous shows at the 2000 Oklahoma State Fair Centennial Expo, along with a performance that same year as a featured part of the big Centennial Spectacular. In 2008, Horseshoe Road completed a U.S. Embassy sponsored tour of Thailand, which commemorated the 175th anniversary of relations between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Thailand; it was the first time an American band had ever performed in four of the five cities they toured. They are also the winner of the 2011 International Acoustic Music Awards in the Country/Bluegrass category.
KYLE DILLINGHAM (FIDDLE/VOCALS) is a world-renowned fiddle sensation and Oklahoma Musical Ambassador. Kyle has electrified and energized audiences around the world, performing his fiddle magic in over 29 countries. The Oklahoma native picked up the violin when he was nine, and eight years later, he gave two featured performances at the Grand Ole Opry. He was a featured performer for the King of Malaysia, the Princess of Thailand, Singapore’s National Day Celebration, and televised on Chinese national television. Kyle was a recipient of the 2009 Governor’s Arts Award, acknowledging his life’s work as a violinist, vocalist, and musical ambassador for the state of Oklahoma and for his gift to connect with people throughout the world. As a Creativity Ambassador, he took the stage with other Oklahoma notables, such as Jimmy Webb, Leona Mitchell and Hanson, as a part of the Creativity World Forum in November 2010. Since 2009, Kyle has been featured in six world premiers of new works composed by Callen Clark in a collaborative effort to revive symphonic music starting in Oklahoma. He is proud to be playing Glasser Bows exclusively.
PETER MARKES (GUITAR/VOCALS) is a lifelong classically and folk trained violinist and guitarist. He has had the chance to perform with musical partner, Kyle Dillingham, in over twenty countries in North, Central, and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. During those travels, he conducted violin and guitar improvisation master classes in Venezuela, Macedonia, and China, and the duo was featured several times on television broadcast to millions worldwide. In 2000 while in Bangkok, they recorded an album of thirteen original songs, titled “Outside the Box.” He has performed in master classes with the ProArte String Quartet, violinist Corey Cerovsek, and Oscar-winning composer John Corigliano. In 2007, he was awarded a Governor’s Commendation from Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry and was also named Teacher of the Year at Edmond Cheyenne Middle School. Peter is in his tenth year as director of the Edmond North High School Orchestra and is also the conductor for the Oklahoma Youth Philharmonic. In 2009, he was selected by School Band and Orchestra magazine as the Oklahoma representative for the nation’s “50 Directors Who Make a Difference” and has been selected three times by former students as their Teacher of Honor at the Oklahoma Academic All-State Celebration of Excellence. He lives in Oklahoma City with his wife Kris and their two boys.
BRENT SAULSBURY (UPRIGHT BASS/VOCALS) started his music journey around age five when he took a liking to banging around on his grandma’s piano. By the time he was in fifth grade, he had a knack for copying the piano styles of Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino. When Brent received his first guitar, he would thump around on it to mimic the sound of a string bass. This would be the harbinger of his later role as an extraordinary upright player. Before joining Horseshoe Road, Brent performed in L.A., the Amarillo club scene and with several Oklahoma City bands, and has jammed with the likes of the Carl V. Moore Experience and Maurice Johnson. Brent continues to hone his musical craft as a musician and has been teaching music for the last decade.
