ACT OF CONGRESS (BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA) has an organic sound that combines hook-laden melodies, compelling songwriting, and intelligent acoustic instrumentation that is rapidly gathering attention throughout the country.  The band has performed for the likes of Paste, XM radio, SXSW, Disney, NPR and Billboard. Act of Congress has previously won the IMWS Disc Makers Grand Prize and Colgate Country Showdown regional competition. Also featured at the Alabama Music Educators Association (AMEA) conference in 2011 as a performer and guest artist, Act of Congress has gained recognition and invaluable experience in music education. In 2011, AOC performed their original music with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra with orchestrations by Grammy-nominated composer Don Hart.  Act of Congress was voted one of the “must see acts” of Alabama, and was featured in the prestigious 2011 Year of Alabama Music.

ADAM WRIGHT (GUITAR/MANDOLIN) was drawn into the world of acoustic music upon entering college at the University of Montevallo in 2001. He met Chris Griffin, who had a similar passion and they formed Act of Congress, an acoustic “newgrass” quartet in 2006. Currently, he is a full time musician, playing in Act of Congress, teaching private lessons a week and serving as chief musician in a local congregation.

CHRIS GRIFFIN (GUITAR) began playing guitar at the age of 10, influenced by many of the electric guitar heroes of the 1990s. After playing in several high school and college groups, he graduated from the University of Montevallo. Soon after, he met noted Christian songwriter, Lynn Deshazo, and traveled with Lynn through parts of the U.S., Africa and Europe in 2003-2005. Chris began as the Director of the Metro Music Academy, a Birmingham-based instructional music school, in 2006. During the same year, Chris also formed Act of Congress with former college friend, Adam Wright. Together, they have had song licensing credits with Google, Showtime, Ferret Records Recording Artists, and many local affiliates of major cable networks. Currently, Chris divides his professional career as an active member in Act of Congress and Director of the Metro Music Academy.

TIM CARROLL (BASS) has been studying music since he was 11 years old. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Jazz and Classical Degree in bass performance. Tim has performed with numerous regional symphonies and national touring theatre acts such as GreaseWicked, and The Color Purple. He has also held teaching positions in the Alabama school system. In addition to playing with Act of Congress, Tim is an in demand session player and instructor.

BETHANY BORG (VOCALS/FIDDLE) has been competing in competitions since she was 7 years old. She is a fiddle champion in ten states, and has received many national honors. In 2008 she relocated from a two-year stint performing in Branson, Missouri. Bethany currently teaches privately and performs with several national artists.
